2. What is Septic OT
Septic operation theatre is a place where surgeries with risk of infection, like evisceration, abscess drainage, DCT , DCR etc are performed.
It is very important to organise and plan the septic OT to prevent postoperative and intra operative infections in aseptic cases

3. Location It should be away from the main theatre
Instruments and clothing used in septic OT should have different colour codes.
Patients should have limited access to SOT

Should be a place from where patients can be easily transferred, but routine clean patients have no access
Should have separate clothing room
Should have separate scrub room .

5. Location
separate sterilization room away from the main theatre section
The instruments and eye towels should be sterilized separately from other linen like coats .
Sterilization of septic operation theatre instruments should be in a separate area away from routine sterilization area.

6. Location Should have good ventilation to prevent infection.
Adjustable lighting system with good illumination.
A flash autoclave should be available to provide routine instruments in between the cases.

7. OT Manager OT nursing officer manges the OT.
The OT manager takes care of the day to day running and the efficient management of theatres

8. OT Manger Responsibility
Ensure availability of facilities, equipment, instruments and nursing staff .
Proper care and maintenance of equipment
Theatre cleanliness and sterility

9. OT Manger Responsibility
Adherence to work discipline
Maintenance of OT records

10. Running Nurse She is should arrange the theatre
Get sterilized instruments and linen
She should help the surgeon and assisting sister for getting scrubbed

11. Running Nurse She should help in setting up instrument trolley
She should provide the consumables and disposable material required to the assisting nurse
She is responsible for shifting the patient.
