Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is the second largest and one of the oldest disciplines; broadest of all engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers apply the principles of mechanics and energy to the design of machines and devices.
3
Mechanical engineers in general are problem solvers
Mechanical engineers design things that have real world applications Mechanical engineers have designed many products and structures that we use in our daily lives Mechanical engineers look for practical applications for things scientists and others discover

History For there to be a mechanical engineer a machine must be made.
The hand axe was the first machine built thus the creator of the hand axe was the first Mechanical Engineer. The hand axe is one of the 6 simple machines, the wedge. A wedge is a simple machine made up fo two inclined planes put together. These 2 planes meet and form a sharp edge. Wedges are used to push two objects apart, or cut an object into pieces. It can also hold objects in place.

The Method of Mechanical Theorems On the Equilibrium of Planes On the Equilibrium of Planes The first book is in fifteen propositions with seven postulates, while the second book is in ten propositions. In this work Archimedes explains the Law of the Lever, stating, "Magnitudes are in equilibrium at distances reciprocally proportional to their weights.” The Method of Mechanical Theorems In this work Archimedes uses infinitesimals, and shows how breaking up a figure into an infinite number of infinitely small parts can be used to determine its area or volume.

In this work Archimedes explains the Law of the Lever, stating, "Magnitudes are in equilibrium at distances reciprocally proportional to their weights.” Metrica - It is a compendium, in three books, of geometric rules and formulas that Heron gathered from a variety of sources

Determine the causes of a process failure. Test output to maintain quality. They also estimate the time and cost required to complete projects. (cost effective analysis)

For more Information We have interviews with actual mechanical engineers and what they do at their jobs.
