1. 10 th Grade Career Exploration Lesson Results Data CMW Counseling Team Presentation by: Mike Whitfield

2. Who, What, When, and Where?  Who: All 10 th Grade students at CMW (n~335)  What: Lessons on how to use Naviance to identify career interests and align them to career possibilities and their educational prerequisites  When: December 11 th to December17 th of 2014  Where: In the Wrighting Center!

3. Why teach this lesson? We wanted these things! Students will be able identify the Holland Codes that best apply to them, and explain why they are a good fit. Students will be able locate and describe one career that matches their Holland Codes. Students will be able to explain how their coursework at CMW is relevant to their career goals and traits.

4. How well did we accomplish our goals?  To assess our presentation’s efficacy, we collect survey, usage, and short answer data on our student’s progress, confidence, and skills.  The data in the presentation will show how our students began the lesson and how they ended the lesson- we look for growth or maintenance of skills and confidence.  Remember- this data is only a number to show our effects in a moment- the real data comes with our college and career placement and matriculation rates!

5. Pre-Lesson Survey: Holland Codes and Confidence When asked which Holland Code best applied to them students made these choices with this level of confidence. Notice- 1 in 3 students can’t even pick one word, and more than half of 10 th grade had 60% or less confidence in the selections that were made!

6. Post-Lesson Survey- Holland Codes and Confidence At the end of the lesson, you can see students select their codes much more accurately and know themselves with more confidence. Notice- 98.8% of our sophomores can define their Holland code, and 90% of our students have higher than 80% confidence in their selections! HUGE GROWTH !

9. Follow-Up  Student usage data will be monitored to see how well our lesson prepared them to use the system/if they apply the training.  Counselors will use their short answer data to consult with their students in order to help them plan  Parents will be trained on the system at Naviance Night
