Bridling the Tongue involves… RESTRAINT – it cannot go in any direction it wants (Prov. 10:19; 17:27, 28) CAUTION – we must be careful (Ecclesiastes 5:2; Matthew 12:36, 37) DIRECTION – it must be guided (Proverbs 16:23; 15:28; Titus 2:7-8)

The Bridled Tongue Shows reverence for God (Matt. 6:9; Deut. 5:11) Refrains from cursing and profanity (Rom. 3:14; Matthew 26:73-74; 1 Timothy 1:9; Lev. 19:12) Refrains from foolish and coarse speech (Ephesians 5:1-8) Will not gossip or tell tales (1 Timothy 5:13; Proverbs 26:20,22) Speaks the truth (Psalm 116:11; Revelation 21:8)
