Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) Measure Objective: To support projects that foster the concept of Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) and determine what kind of interventions could be rolled out in a broader context to support the economic development of towns, villages and their rural hinterlands.

Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) -Flagships REDZ – Town with a population of 10,000+ -Medium REDZ – Town with a population of 5000- 10000 - Small REDZ – Town with a population of less than 5000

Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) Funding Allocations -3 flagships – 1 Each Region – Max Grant €250K -5 Medium – 1 Each Region + 2 based on quality – Max Grant €150K -10 Small – 2 Each Region + 4 based on quality – Max Grant €50K

Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) Outline Criteria -Identify and specify the needs and opportunities with a REDZ -Outline additional funding to be allocated -Participation Processes -REDZ identified in the CEDRA report -Up to 75% funding/ cash and in kind contributions

Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) Scoring Framework -Capacity of applicant group -Compatibility with REDZ concept -Added Value/Value for Money -Demonstration of need and potential -Realistic nature of proposal

Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) Timeline -Launch 29 th May 2015 -Seminar 29 th June 2015 -Closing Date 31 st August 2015 -Contract by 30 th September 2015 -Expenditure 31 st December 2015
