17 17 Clinical year  During the sixth year (clinical year), the students work on hospital wards, where there are in charge of their own group of patients (under the supervision of a physician)  Working as interns at the University Hospital or its associated teaching hospitals  Obligatory components: - four months in internal medicine - four months in surgery - four months in a field of choice

18 18 Exams  Written or oral examinations at the end of each module  Passing is a prerequisite for obtaining credit points  On the basis of these accumulated points, students acquire certifications for both entire interdisciplinary modules and for single disciplines which are addressed in more than one module  Licensing is not regulated by the medical faculty but by the Federal Examination Board  Exchange students may not take part in federally administrated examinations

19 19 Studying at the UMG There are several possibilities to study at the University Medical Center Goettingen:  Student exchange  Studying Entire Course of Medical Studies at the UMG  Master Courses or PhD Programmes

20 20 Student exchange  Can be organized as part of a cooperation agreement Duration: max. 1 year (2 semesters) - to participate in courses and seminars or - to do a practical stay in a chosen department  Can be organised in form of an elective course at UMG Duration: short-term stays, depending on requirements of the home university of the student & confirmation of the host department at the UMG

22 22 Application procedure 1. Completion of Internet Online Registration Form 2. Submission of application documents (Application form, diplomas, school certificates, proof of basic German language skills, proof of payment of the evaluation fee) 3. Payment for evaluation fee (40 EUR) (Evaluation of entitlement to university entrance) 4. Decision on Admission - You will receive a notice of receipt of your application. - You will be informed in writing about admission or denial after the procedure has been finished.

Submitting enrolment documents personally or by mail (Health insurance certificate, certificate of German knowledge) 7.
