1 Science – The Bigger Picture

2 Purpose of this session To get you thinking about science beyond the walls of the classroom; To see how science fits into society as a whole; To get you discussing the relationship between science and other issues; To make you think about careers that might follow on from science degrees.

3 Time to get you thinking… A man is trapped in a room. The room has only two possible exits: two doors. Through the first door there is a room constructed from magnifying glass. The blazing hot sun instantly fries anything or anyone that enters. Through the second door there is a fire-breathing dragon. How does the man escape?

4 He waits until night time and then goes through the first door!
