Homework Assignment 1: Thermal Comfort Answers
Find the values of humidity ratio, enthalpy, and specific volume for saturated air at one standard atmosphere for temperature of 20 C. Humidity ratio (worth 1 point): apx. 15 grams moisture per kilogram dry air Enthalpy (worth 1 point): KJ per kilogram of dry air Specific volume (worth 1 point): cubic meter per kilogram dry air 2. Find the enthalpy of moist air at 16 C and 80% relative humidity for sea level. Enthalpy (1 point): 39 KJ per kilogram of dry air 3. The condition within a room is 20 C (dry bulb), 50% relative humidity, and Pa pressure. The inside surface temperature of the window is 5 C. Will moisture condense on the window glass? Explain why. Yes. The dewpoint at 20 C, 50% relative humidity is apx. 9.5 degrees. Since the surface temperature of the window is less than 9.5 degrees, moisture will condense on the window glass. For GRADUATE students, the assignment is worth 5 points. For UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS, the assignment is worth 6 points.
