TC6 ISSMGE Meeting, Phoenix, USA, April 2006 Dr Domenico Gallipoli, Durham University Conference Rationale Interest in unsaturated soil mechanics has been steadily growing in Europe over recent years with several research groups now active in this area In recent years there has been increasing co-operation between different research groups in Europe and collaborative projects between different institutions have been established A number of conferences on unsaturated soils have been organised by European groups (Weimar, Germany; Trento, Italy) during recent years It is therefore timely to launch a series of European Conference on Unsaturated Soils occurring on the same four year cycle as the International Conferences series, the Asian Conference series and the Brazilian Conferences series.

TC6 ISSMGE Meeting, Phoenix, USA, April 2006 Dr Domenico Gallipoli, Durham University Conference Organization The 1 st European Conference on Unsaturated Soil Mechanics will be held in the UK during the week from 30 th June to 4 th July 2008 It is jointly organized by Durham University and Glasgow University The conference is also supported by all six members of the MUSE Network, i.e. Durham University, Università degli Studi di Trento, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya, Glasgow University, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II It will be held at Collingwood College at Durham University
