2 Motivation MuCool Test Area RF Workshop211/15/2010 Muons, Inc. To fit pressurized cavities in HCC, size of cavity has to be reduced 800 MHz (from Katsuya) Maximum RF cavity radius = 0.08 m, (pillbox cavity 0.143) Radius of effective electric field (95 % from peak) = 0.03 m 400 MHz: Maximum RF radius = 0.16 m (pillbox cavity 0.286) Radius of effective electric field = 0.06 m Optimum electric field gradient = 16 MV/m For Pill Box Cavity, resonant frequency is

3 Other Applications MuCool Test Area RF Workshop311/15/2010 Muons, Inc. May be we can use this type of cavity for Neuffer’s Phase Rotation Canal. This was Cary Yoshikawa suggestion. The canal needs many cavities in range from ~300 to 200MHz. We can use, let say two sizes of Pill Box Cavity (same size different dielectric!) and adjust frequency in between using different iner radius, re-entrant nose cones!

Near Future Possibilities Build high power 800MHz cavity with Dielectric at Gap Modify it for use with Dielectric Liquid Put it inside Solenoid Magnet Do the same for 200MHz This program can be executed for 20 to 40K$ M&S This program can be accomplished in 4 to 8 months There will be need for two periods of one week each of MTA Muons, Inc has expressed interests in participation, intellectually and monetary We may be lucky and motivate somebody to put effort in low loss ceramics research and design Help is need it and everybody is welcome
