3 Incomplete Grades Copy of form given to student and Registrar’s Office (use to be Department). A student may NOT re-enroll in a course for which he or she has received an “I”. The instructor submitting an “I” grade may submit a letter grade to be assigned in the event the Incomplete is not made up within one year (the grade would be recorded as such in place of an IC grade).

4 Dropping Classes w/o Penalty Undergraduate students are permitted to drop a course without penalty or restriction through the fifth day of instruction. EO 1037 allows this date to be extended to the Census Day.

5 Cap on Withdrawals No more than 28 units of W. This is the maximum allowed by EO 1037, presently there are no limits. This limit applies only to units attempted at Cal Poly Pomona, excludes courses taken through the Extended University.

6 Other Changes with Withdrawals Dates: no change WM Withdrawal: These don’t count towards the limit. “…circumstances clearly beyond the students control…”

7 Repetition of Courses Courses listed as having repeatable units are not under this policy. Cannot repeat if you have a C or better. Set by EO 1037. Can only repeat 2 times. Set by EO 1037

8 Repetition Continued… Students may repeat up to 42 units of which a maximum of 24 units can be for grade forgiveness. The maximum units allowed by EO 1037 Grade forgiveness, 24 units, presently 16 units are allowed. Grade averaging, 18 units, presently there are no limits.

9 Extended University The limit on withdrawals do not apply to courses taken through EU. All courses repeated through EU add to the limit count on repetition. Grades received in courses taken thru EU in excess of these limits will appear on the student’s transcripts and can satisfy degree and prerequisite requirements only. Cannot be used to improve GPA.

10 General Provisions Starts in Fall 2009 The count on withdrawals will be set at zero for continuing students in Fall 2009 A waiver process to these limits is recommended
