EE Mainz meeting 5/3/03 Calorimeter-to-trigger connectivity u Documentation t Excel tables by Steve and Murrough give full detail t LAr has been checked by Bill Cleland; TileCal still to be checked (at Pittsburgh?) t Some explanatory text is still needed
2
EE Mainz meeting 5/3/03 Trigger cables u Long cables from TileCal to USA15 t Should be purchased soon, from same company and to the same specification as the LAr ones (TileCal pays) t Only remaining technical issue is maximum length u Short cables from receivers to Preprocessor t Have been purchased u Possible omission t Short cables from TileCal patch-panel to receivers, and for some trigger towers from receivers to downstream patch-panel — lengths depend on rack layout details

EE Mainz meeting 5/3/03 TileCal receivers u Specification t Needed ≤ April so that Pittsburgh can get DoE approval to start work on them in next US financial year (and necessary in any case!) t Work on it has re-started t Main open question is input coupling t Control bus has changed: SPAC USB u Other points t UK has purchased variable-gain amplifiers (no longer made) t Need a formal agreement with Pittsburgh (e.g. UK pays) t System cost is ~60% higher than planned ($180–190k)

EE Mainz meeting 5/3/03 Test-beam work u Tests with calorimeters t We plan extensive tests with calorimeters and DAQ (‘combined test’) in 2004 t Nick suggested some small-scale tests in 2003 : Would only involve our front-end electronics : Must not significantly distract from slice tests : Main aim is to check that there are no ‘misunderstandings’, e.g. amplitude, shape, polarity, connectors,...
