1 13 Oct 2006 Small Wheel Phase 1.9 Logistics C. Weaverdyck N. Nation 13 October 2006

2 13 Oct 2006 Considerations Space to prep 16 or 32 chambers at a time Clear path for rolling chambers to B191 removing need for verticalizer in B191 Room to perform photogrammetry and calibration Minimize multiple manipulations of chambers Setup that allows BU/UM to start phase 1.9 work immediately

3 13 Oct 2006 What has been offered? Jorg has offered us the space at the back of B190 Space is rather small, but could eventually hold 16 chambers, max Easily accessible to B191 Can work on 4 chambers now, storage for another 12 available (within 2 weeks?) All necessary equipment on hand (see next slide)

4 13 Oct 2006 Portable Equipment for 1.9 SEQUENCE 1) Gantry with Frame used to lift chamber out of box, onto box lid 2) Perform 1.9 services 3)Gantry with cart frame used to transfer chamber to cart 4)Rotate vertical, photograph both sides 5)Deposit chamber back onto box lid 6) Calibrate and Install PMO 7)Roll to storage (OR re-box)

5 13 Oct 2006 Issues to Face Storage space – first 16 chambers could be fit in 190, but need 32. Must use 180 Preferable to avoid re-boxing chambers, but that means we will need to transport open chambers from 180 to 191 Time to complete – critical path needs to be identified Working space in 191 will be very tight, possibly no room for verticalizer with EI table location EIL.2-3 can not be put in verticalizer

6 13 Oct 2006 Transporting Chambers Path through front of 190 not wide enough for chamber on dollies Use of rolling cart can eliminate need for verticalizer in 191 Only 3 rolling carts availiable 2 UW carts 1 UM Blue Cart (not certified) Carts need slight modification (drill new holes for angled beams)

7 13 Oct 2006 B180 + 190 Movement of chambers from Saleve to Jura end storage, then through 190 to 191 for installation

8 13 Oct 2006 Saleve end Work Area Space available starting in November Phase 1.9 done in existing EML area Need to reroute gas connections? Space for chamber storage?

9 13 Oct 2006 Jura end of 180 and 190 Initial work in area behind barracks Storage available for 4, 8 or possibly 16 chambers “Ready-For- Installation” storage where EOL are sitting Use UW carts to transport through 190 to 191 for installation TAN

10 13 Oct 2006 Conclusions Location behind Barracks allows Phase 1.9 to begin for small wheel chambers More space is needed if we will install
