1 Treatment of Psychological Disorders How you treat abnormal behavior depends on how its origin is perceived. Moral Model – Abnormal behavior is the result of weak willpower or intentional misbehavior. In other words, people displaying such behaviors should be held accountable for their actions. The appropriate treatment was therefore seen as punishment. Medical Model – Abnormal behavior is an illness and should be treated as such. But is it an illness of the brain (Somatogenic Hypothesis) or an illness of the mind (Psychogenic Hypothesis)?

Eclectic Therapy – Using a variety of therapy types choosing on the basis of the symptoms being treated
