3
Fires are dangerous! Fires are very dangerous, but knowing the following rules, you can keep yourself safe from them!
4
Fire is fast! In less than 30 seconds a small flame can get out of control. It takes only minutes for a thick black smoke to fill a house.
5
Fire is hot! A fire’s heat alone can kill. Inhaling heat can damage your lungs.
6
Fire is dark! Fire starts out bright, but quickly produces smoke and darkness.
7
Never stand too close to a fire place! If you stand too close to a fire place you could get burned or your clothes could catch on fire.
8
Never play with lighters! If you see lighters, matches, or candles in a room, tell an adult instead of playing with them.
9
Never stand in a fire! If there is a fire, you should always crawl rather than stand, that way you wont inhale as much smoke.
10
Never return to a burning building! Once you are out of the building, you should never return for anything. The firefighters will take care of anything left behind.
11
Never put anything over a lamp Never put things such as clothes or a blanket over a lamp.
12
Stop, drop, and roll! If your clothes catch on fire, you should stop what your doing, drop the floor, and roll around in order to put the fire out.
13
Develop a home fire escape plan Talk with your family and come up with a fire escape plan. Ask your parents to check your smoke detector. Have a meeting place away from the house, such as a neighbors house.
14
Feel a door with the back of your hand Always feel a door with the back of your hand. If you burn the inside of your hand then you wont be able to use your hands at all.
15
Don’t play with electrical cords Never play with electrical cords or sick anything in them.
16
Never hide If there is a fire, you should never hide in a closet or under a bed because it will be hard for the firefighters to find you. Stay low but make yourself easy to find.

If it is something that you are not supposed to do in a fire, please draw it, then please draw a line through it after you draw it.
