5
Population and Sample the entire group that a researcher wishes to study is called a population. Sample is a set of individuals selected from a population, usually intended to represent the population in a study.
6
Parameter and Statistic Any values that describe population are called parameter. Any values that describe sample are called statistic.
7
Descriptive and Inferential Statistic DSs are statistical procudures used to summarize, organize and simplify data. ISs consist of techniques that allow us study samples and then generalize about populations from which they are selected.
8
Sampling error is the descrepancy, or amount of error, that exist between a sample statistic and the corresponding population parameter.
9
Random sampling is a process for obtaining a sample from a population that requires that every individual in the population have the same chance of being selected for the sample.
