Rules –Have to be recreated on Outlook Proxies –Reconfigure delegates.

University of South Carolina Confidential Page 4 The Migration Process Before Migration Your IT team will install Outlook (or Entourage) on your workstation. Make Sure your GroupWise mailbox is less than 300 MB Save any GroupWise Frequent Contacts by moving them to you personal address book Reset your password on VIP if you have not already done so. On Migration Date Your @gwm.sc.edu address points to Exchange. A forward rule is set to forward any messages still going to GroupWise to your Exchange mailbox. Initiate the copy of the contents. The copy should complete overnight. After Migration Begin migrating archives Note when you send e-mails, you will be sending as username@law.sc.edu

University of South Carolina Confidential Page 5 How to Prepare 1.Change your password in VIP if you have not done so in the last 6 months! 2.Make sure your GroupWise mailbox is less than 300 MB. 3.Save any Frequent Contacts to keep in your personal address book. 4.Attend Outlook Training if you prefer.

University of South Carolina Confidential Page 6 Once You Migrate Communicating with Folks Still on GroupWise –Your address is in the GroupWise address book Please encourage folks to delete frequent contacts. –Their addresses are in Exchange for your convenience. –Calendar appointments are typically sent as text messages between the two systems.

University of South Carolina Confidential Page 7 Once You Migrate Listserv’s –If your default sending address changes, you may need to update your Listserv membership. PDA’s –Windows Mobile compatible PDA’s sync with Exchange. –BlackBerry devices require NotifyLink. Alias & EVM –Reset your alias to point to username@law.sc.edu. –Reset your electronic voicemail to username@law.sc.edu

Web Access – https://webmail.sc.eduhttps://webmail.sc.edu Spam Management –Fully Featured SonicWall Spam Management –You may still receive some messages scored with “sss” –Tailor your spam tolerance to your preferences. https://myspam.sc.edu https://myspam.sc.edu

University of South Carolina Confidential Page 9 What’s Left to Be Done Online Archival –Working with procurement to purchase “transparent” online archival software. –Move older e-mails to slower, less expensive storage. –Message can still be viewed and accessed via Outlook. –Alleviates the 300 MB Limit. –Implementation planned for Summer 08 Upgrade to Exchange 2007 –Planned for 2009
