1. Ventouse Synonym : Ventouse Introduction : (Definition) Vacuum is an operation for the delivery of the fetal head from the mother by use of a vacuum extractor applied to the fetal scalp on presence of maternal effort.

2. Indications Conventional Prophylactic : to shorten the 2 nd stage of labour Hypertension or cardiac disease. (1) mother cannot or should not stand pushing stress of 2 nd stage due to maternal condition e.g.. Hypertension or cardiac disease.

3. Indications (2) Maternal causes such as -Prolonged 2 nd stage -Maternal distress -Maternal exhaustion (3) Fetal Causes -Fetal distress in 2 nd stage of labor.
