1. WP -6: Human Tracking and Modelling Year–I Objectives: Simple upper-body models and articulated tracks from test videos. Year-I Achievements: Tracking of articulated motion is underway using complementary approaches. Interactive and automatic 3D reconstructions have been produced. Year-I Deliverables: Demo Simple human modelling and tracking. Demo 3D body modelling.

2. WP -5: Scene and Camera Modelling Year–I Objectives: Initial estimation of camera motions in test videos. Scene and camera reconstructions extracted automatically from test videos (single tracking shots). Year-I Achievements: Camera motion estimation has been implemented Scene reconstruction has been performed based on material from video sequences. Year-I Deliverables: Demo VRML models and camera motion.

3. WP -3: Descriptors and Classification Year–I Objectives: Simple descriptors for test videos, faces, and humans from motion. Year-I Achievements: Detection and recognition of faces has been implemented. Human detection has been preliminary studied and results on human action recognition (to be delivered later) are already in progress. Year-I Deliverables: Demo Simple Descriptors.

4. WP -2: Scene and Rigid Object Matching Year–I Objectives: Pairwise wide-baseline matches of test videos. Year-I Achievements: Wide baseline matching has been tested on shots from video sequences and will be a valuable tool for classification and search for similar objects. Year-I Deliverables: Demo Simple wide-baseline matching. Paper Wide baseline matching.

5. WP -1: Extraction of Basic Video Units Year–I Objectives: Preliminary selection of test video sequences to be used by all partners. Rough shot segmentation of selected sequences. Accurate shot segmentations and independently moving rigid objects for panning sequences of test sequences. Year-I Achievements: Two different video test sequences have been defined and distributed. Additionally video material for the TREC conference series will be used. Shot segmentation has been implemented. Foreground object has been segmented out from scenes with panning cameras. Year-I Deliverables: Demo Segmentation into basic video units.
