Volatile Oil from Eucalyptus species As Novel Bioherbicides Daizy R. BATISH*, Shalinder KAUR, Harminder Pal SINGH and Ravinder K. KOHLI Botany Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh

Objective of the Study To test Phytotoxicity of eucalypt volatile oils towards weeds (Echinochloa crus-galli, Parthenium hysterophorus and Cassia occidentalis). with a view to bioherbicide. choose them for development as a bioherbicide.

Echinochloa crus-galli Parthenium hysterophorus

Changes in Injury Level

Conclusions  Eucalypt oils have a weed suppressing effect.  Affect the photosynthetic and respiratory activity.  Treatment causes visible injury in the mature plants  Result in Rapid Electrolyte leakage – Membrane Integrity  Could be Used as Bioherbicide.
