steve@ultraprt.com PRT for Perimeter Center Steve Raney, ATS Inc. (U.S.) – ULTra PRT ATS: not the only PRT vendor. Procurement => competition

steve@ultraprt.com 200 US Edge Cities Perimeter Center –115K jobs, 248 bldgs, 40K residents, 6M sf retail, 4 MARTA stations (end of line). 15 mi N of downtown Atlanta –Competitive issues: traffic Hacienda Biz Park – Pleasanton, SF Bay Area –29K jobs, 9K residents, 1M sf retail, $3B value, 1 BART station (end of line) –Market research results Cumberland/Galleria.

steve@ultraprt.com Perimeter PRT Sketch Alignment Blue, red, orange, magenta loops per each MARTA station About 5 miles of guideway & 15 stations per loop –Rough capital cost: $40M - $75M per loop Recent ultraprt.com web lengthy cost explanation Alignment is WRONG!

steve@ultraprt.com Perimeter Alignment

steve@ultraprt.com Perimeter Alignment

steve@ultraprt.com Perimeter PRT Sketch Alignment Wrong because needs –Second orange to red connection –Second red to magenta connection Carpool-needs-PRT argument –Commute from South to Ashford –Carpool w/ UPS HQ employee (16+ min dropoff penalty within Perimeter) PRT faster than a car –UPS to Ashford 8:00 drive w/ light traffic (on arterials, not hwy) 7:20 PRT trip including 20 sec wait.

steve@ultraprt.com Perimeter Center Planning P.C. Livable Centers Plan –Circulation plan –10 PTC shuttle bus routes –East-West LRT is an option in long term plan –Premium circulator is an option in long term plan –Some new transit is coming, so consider PRT IT3: Investing in Tomorrow’s Transp Today –Guv Perdue, GRTA, GDOT, etc partnership –“reliable, connecting infrastructure, including premium circulators serving the highest density centers.” –"... transform the way we look at transportation. We will stop focusing only on how much money we spend and start focusing on an outcome-based strategy to create a 21st century transportation network throughout GA." – Guv.

steve@ultraprt.com Above-average Funding Potential Perimeter Community Improvement District –Self-taxing –PRT: save shuttle bus costs TIP, earmark, MARTA capital reserve fund –House Speaker Richardson calls for statewide TIP Example: Orange County GoLocal premium circulator sales tax IT3 calls for parking/congestion charges –Tax parking to pay for PRT (and reduce congestion)? –$2 parking charge + $4 cashout (don’t park) incentive Genentech (biotech) web-based employee self-reporting Start at $0.25 parking charge + $0.50 cashout, & grow.

steve@ultraprt.com Above-average Funding Potential Monetize parking savings from commute mode shift –In-fill surface parking –Shared parking between uses Have blue, red, orange, and magenta “compete” for who goes first. Offer incentive for first mover. Incentivize stakeholders Increases MARTA ridership –with no marketing spend Increases real-estate value.

steve@ultraprt.com THE PERIMETER ASK: Make PRT an option in the long-term circulation plan.

steve@ultraprt.com THE END

steve@ultraprt.com Guideway Visual Impact "No respondent felt that the vehicle appearance was poor, indeed the majority thought the vehicles would look excellent. The visual appearance of the elevated structure was regarded generally as good, with 40.4% rating it excellent. It is especially noteworthy that the response to the elevated track gave a notably positive response, with no definitely negative responses and only 2.6% feeling that it could be difficult.“ (Bristol, Cardiff)

steve@ultraprt.com Cut & Cover w/ Glass

steve@ultraprt.com Open Guideway (ULTra) 2getthere Electric battery Captive Bogey: * Vectus – LIM guideway * Skyweb Express – 3 rd rail, LIM Suspended: Mister, JPods 30+ vendors & technologies

steve@ultraprt.com Safety / Safety Certification APMs: 100X safer than driving & at-grade transit US / ASCE APM Standards –City/customer forms a RTA (rail transit authority). Vendor makes safety case. RTA approves –BAA & ATS on the ASCE committee 361 ULTra hazard cases –Earthquake, truck crashes into column, falling debris, fire, bad people, extreme weather, vehicle fails on guideway, slipping on stairs, etc..

steve@ultraprt.com What if a vehicle breaks down? Built like a 747 (to not break down in mid-air). Health monitoring systems. 4mph back up mode. To back up to a station. Helper vehicle can clear the track. CCTV in each vehicle with comms. Once in 10 years, open front hatch & walk on the guideway Never need a cherry-picker.
