Comply with requirements of funding bodies Ensuring data quality and authenticity Not re-inventing the wheel - data collection can be expensive! Better access to data (which in many cases is publicly funded) will produce high quality research Future access (preservation)

Overall, the vast majority of researchers interviewed think that there are potential services that could help them manage their data more effectively.

A sustainable infrastructure that allows publication and long-term preservation of research data for those disciplines without domain specific archives. Advice on practical issues related to managing data across their life cycle. –assistance to produce a data management/sharing plan, best formats on data creation, options for storing and sharing data securely, publishing and preserving them.
