7 Term 3 TIMELINE VTAC Applications Now Open. Cost $19.00 Student VTAC Briefings: August 8 to 12 Practice Preference List due: Sept 12 Timely Application: Sept 30, 5pm.

8 TERM 4 TIMELINE Late Date Nov. 11 Cost $66.00 Final Closing Date – December 9 ( Late Fee- $88.00) ENTER & VCE Results – Dec.12 Change of Preference – 12-19Dec. noon

9 Dates 2006 Round 1 Offers- Mon. January 17 Round 2 Offers- February 2 Round 3 Offers- February 16 Undergraduate enrolment dates: Round 1- Jan 23-27 Round 2- Feb 8-10 Details sent by post No acceptance through VTAC must turn up and enrol

10 PAYMENT CHOICES Infonet Payable by invoice at P.O. or POSTbillpay on-line If online payment fails invoice is sent Application is processed when lodged No refunds No fee = no COP, no ENTER statement Print receipt

11 THE VTAC APPLICATION Infonet only method Student number is VCAA number inc. letter PIN is first 4 digits of D.O.B. PIN must be changed for security Student details must be correct ENTER Statement only sent to VTAC applicants Non-applicants can apply for a statement. Cost applies.

12 COURSE PREFERENCES Up to 12 Preferences CSP (course code ends in 1) Full Fee (code ends in 2) International (code ends in 3) Code must be correct

13 PREFERENCE LIST In the order of desirability, taking into consideration the ENTER & Middle band Willingness to undertake courses Prerequisite studies met & any extra requirements satisfied

14 Change Of Preference Preferences can be changed if necessary Online Dec. 12 to 19, 12 noon Counselling available with Ms Parker

15 TWO STAGE SELECTION PROCESS About 50% courses use ENTER solely. Other 50% use a range of selection criteria STAGE 1 – 80% of places in a course use ENTER + Prerequisites = Clearly in STAGE 2 – Middle Band (20% approx.) Additional information considered eg, study scores, disadvantage

21 Who Qualifies For CSP? Australian Citizens New Zealand Citizens Holders of a Permanent Visa - 2 categories

22 PAYMENT OPTIONS: TYPE 1 CSP PLACES: Eligibility Citizens & Permanent Visa Holders on Humanitarian Grounds Pay up front & receive 20% discount Part payment at least $500.00, receive 20% discount = $600.00 CSP HECS-HELP for full student contributions Repayment starts when you earn $36,184+

27 TAFE COURSES ADVANTAGES: Small Classes Cheaper – $1.25 per contact hour Practical/ Skills based Vocational Can Articulate to a Degree DISADVANTAGE: Lack Degree Status

28 Apprenticeships Advantages 3-4 years paid learning Skills shortage –electricians, brickies, diesel mechanics, service technicians Highly paid Further information: www.newapprenticeships.gov.au
