Social Security Administration (SSA) http://www.ssa.govhttp://www.ssa.gov Interior design In many cases, SSA comes to GSA for instruction and expertise in several areas, to include space management, office location, and office aesthetics. One of their most recent initiatives is to retain not only their employees, but also the customers that visit them on a daily basis. These customers come to the SSA offices to file for their benefits and to receive assistance. Statement of Problem To understand the potential effects of office/interior design such as paint color and lighting on the moods & mentalities of SSA employees, customers and the quality of customer service.

khkj Research Hypothesis We believe that interior design such as paint color and lighting have a positive effect on SSA employee moods and mentalities. We also believe that positive employees will deliver a higher level of customer service. Statement of Research Objective The intended outcome of our research is to decipher whether paint color and lighting affect the moods and attitudes of employees and also whether or not employees are affected by these interior aesthetics. SSA’s mission is to provide benefits and services to millions of American’s. It is important to SSA that they provide excellent customer service and that the customer’s that visit them feel that they are in a safe and comfortable environment.

Key findings Proved half of our hypothesis, the limitations of the pre-determined SSA project timeline prohibited us from linking customer service to the effects of color and lighting, unable to determine corrlation Research (primary) limited for selected industry office work dated materials primarilary from 90’s

Desk Bound, Interactive Assigned work stations are provided since the majority of working hours are in the office and at their desks. Work stations accommodate 2-3 person ad - hoc meetings to effectively support he large amount of interaction at desk. Open and enclosed small group meeting spaces are available for collaboration and interactions Phone booths are provided for conference meetings or private calls. 1-2 person focus booths or a quiet zone is provided in the vicinity to balance the needs for concentration and interaction
