5 GPS PWV Focus Surveys operates network of GPS reference stations in Alberta Network used to derive corrections for precise surveys conducted by Focus Agreement in place Fall 2006 to share sites and infrastructure Focus to maintain and support real-time data streaming from four sites: Olds, Cochrane, Strathmore and Vulcan Data (GPS and met) sent to ftp server at University of Calgary Collaboration with Focus

6 GPS PWV Anticipate approximately three-four spare GPS receivers available for deployment at temporary sites in 2008 (Limestone mountain, Alford Lake, others?) May need to be augmented with met sensors Will continue to operate GPS sites in Sundre and Cremona (foothills) Radiometrics MP-1500 microwave profiler available for temporary deployment (water vapour profiler) Radiometrics WVR-1100 water vapour radiometer available for temporary deployment (PWV and liquid water) Both profiler and radiometer equipped with “super-blower” rain effect mitigation U of C Infrastructure

23 GPS PWV Processing Requirements Post-processing conducted using commercial software (Bernese version 5.0) UofC capabilities to set up automated processing of large data sets (network adjustment augmented with national GPS reference sites) Complex iterative process which requires training UofC graduate student expertise available for data processing and analysis Anticipate two months of student time at $2,000 per month
