The Securing One The Gallery of the Heavenlies

No Fears or Anxieties Here   It is the work of the Spirit to assure us.

Ephesians 1:13-14... in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The Spirit Secures Us   The Holy Spirit takes up residence in us immediately upon our salvation.

Ephesians 1:15-23 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

Ephesians 1:15-23 (cont.) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:

Ephesians 1:15-23 (cont.) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling... and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,

Ephesians 1:15-23 (cont.) [these are] according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Ephesians 1:15-23 (cont.) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

Ephesians 1:15-23 (cont.) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

The Heart of the Prayer That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom [insight] and revelation [unveiling] in the knowledge of [God], the eyes of your [heart] being enlightened; that ye may know... [certain things].

I Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit.

John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:13-14 (cont.) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Illumination: The Difference Between Knowing and Seeing   Paul prayed for this illumination to take place because it is not automatic.   Neither is it common.

Boredom   The sign of darkness in the soul   Boredom is the result of hearing the Word of God without seeing it.

Fascination ≠ Illumination   Spiritual illumination is not the same as intellectual fascination.   Illumination will have a serious humbling effect upon a man.

Pile on the firewood and pray for the fire!

The Certainty of Their Outcome   Hope in the Bible is a “confident expectation.”   It is an “assured outcome.”   The seal of the Spirit is His presence within the believer.

The Splendor of Their Outcome   The believer’s inheritance is Christ Himself, and Christ’s inheritance is His Bride, the Church.   His presence within us is also the down payment—the earnest.

The Power That Guarantees Their Outcome   Paul is not praying that they would experience some new manifestation of God’s power.

The Power That Guarantees Their Outcome   He wanted them to understand the kind of power that had already been at work on their behalf.   It was the same power that actually raised Christ from the tomb.

Assurance problems?  Believers lacking a Spirit- taught eternal security will have the most difficulty with their temporal security.
