Adaptation along the eLearning Life Cycle Authoring/Design UsageAuditing/Feedback Publication IMS-LD Definition of the script by the teacher (with predefined adaptations) Translation of the script into an eLearning platform Offering predefined and on the fly adaptations Observations of users interactions Observations of users interactions Feedback to modify the script
8
Adaptation along the eLearning Life Cycle Authoring/Design UsageAuditing/Feedback Teacher Create course contents Stand-alone: PDF, HTML, TXT, AVI, … Packaged: SCORM, IMS-CP, LAMS, … Define and configure activities Individual, Collaboration (free, CSCL), Evaluation Manage predefined adaptation User features Control information for adaptation Control tracking information Replaning (in terms of IMS-LD level B properties & conditions) Publication
9
Define and Configure activities Activity on the CLF: General information: –Name of the CLF –Description of the CLF –If active for all users –Name of each phase –Starting date for the phase –Days to work to provide the user solution –Days to work to provide the consensus solution –Name of the task –Parent phase for task –If agreement solution should consider all the individual solutions –If automatic change between providing a solution and building the agreement –Number of phases –Number of tasks per each phase –Type of task –Task question –Advices to students Groups –Automatic group reorganization after each phase based on the collaboration –Maximum number of members in a group –Number of groups
10
User features Learning styles Interest level regarding competences in course Interaction indicators Collaboration indicators Accessibility preferences Course progress (competence level acquired)
11
Control information for adaptation General information: –If behaviour indicators are automatically computed, Rule to define potential moderators, Tutor can provide hints for phases and/or tasks Metrics to compute the collaboration indicators per user: –Number of the metric, Description of the metric, Type (active/pasive), Scope, Query Indicators –Name, Description, Type, Machine learning model obtained, Metrics used, Rule for training examples, Recommendations –Name, Description, Type, Indicators used to select them
12
Adaptation along the eLearning Life Cycle Usage Auditing/Feedback Publication System admin Assigns users (professors, learners, …) to a course space Teacher Imports an IMS-LD unit of learning (UoL) Complements the UoL Additional material (documents and links in the file storage) Review configuration of the platform services (e.g. file storage, forums, chat, …) Review the features of the CLF created (and create new ones) Review recommendations for the learners (and define new ones) Review tracking information required Can receive recommendations (manually generated or computed by the system) to improve the course Authoring/Design
13
Adaptation along the eLearning Life Cycle UsageAuditing/Feedback Publication Authoring/Design Teacher Follows-up learners User features: learning styles, collaboration level, accessibility preferences, … Progress information Supports learners Participates in forums Provides additional information Manages collaboration Reviews the composition of groups and the selection of the moderator Adds advices to students Receive recommendations on learners who require attention or materials that may be suitable Learner Provides information User preferences Carry out course activities Receives recommendations on what to do Predefined by the instructional designed Added by the teacher Computed by the system with artificial intelligence techniques Performs evaluation tasks Watches progress and indicators computed by the system
14
Adaptation along the eLearning Life Cycle Usage Auditing/Feedback Publication Teacher Watches the indicator computed (active and passive) Watches the learning paths followed by learners Thinks of better ways to improve the design Authoring/Design

Previous experience May 24-25, 2009 Week of Science in Madrid We run a Gymkhana on the CLF+TAM on dotLRN –14 teams of 4 people each participated –Activity consisted on writing collaboratively a ministory –the experience was satisfactory For us: the system run smoothly For the participants: they enjoyed!

Activity description –Jorge C. /Alberto Actualizar esta info The case study presented at http://www.lama.univsavoie.fr/wiki/index.php/CSCL_Wor kshop_Challenge_on_Adaptation#The_proposed_case_ study can be translated into a Collaborative Logical Framework course as follows: http://www.lama.univsavoie.fr/wiki/index.php/CSCL_Wor kshop_Challenge_on_Adaptation#The_proposed_case_ study –Individual phase of the case study individual and collaborative phase in the CLF –Collaborative phase in the case study agreement phase in the CLF –The selection of the theme to work will be modeled as an independent activity from the CLF IMS QTI –As a result of the activity, we propose to provide a consensus solution
