Vocabulary Lesson 13 Words with Common Roots “OFF TO EGYPT”
2
We took an excursion or trip to the museum.
3
Studying Egypt is part of our history curriculum.
4
We learned that Egyptians were mortal just like all humans. That means they will die because they cannot overcome their physical mortality.
5
Ancient Egyptian Kings or Pharaohs wanted to be immortal. That means they wanted to never die. We remember them when we see mummies or pyramids.
6
Egyptian writing is not like our cursive writing. It has recurring patterns or symbols. Some of the symbols are so tiny they are nearly microscopic.
7
Taking a field trip to a museum is not a common occurrence or something we do everyday.
8
At the museum gift shop we could look through a kaleidoscope and see beautiful patterns of colored glass.
9
You could purchase a telescopic lens for your camera to help you photograph objects far away.
10
You might see a submarine with a periscope that rotates in a complete circle above the water.
11
Perhaps you might be interested in a doctor’s kit that contains a stethoscope to listen to your heart.
12
The museum had a snack bar with a microwave oven to heat our lunch.
