2 Sticky Information… Valuable for problem solving Costly –Acquire –Transfer –Reuse –Process are moved to the “sticky” location Difficult –Combine with other sticky information –Codify (un-stick) –Process will be broken-down into subtasks each solved by separate “sticky” locations If costs are too high or difficult, the knowledge should be codified

3 Organizational Memory Knowledge within a company is –Fragmented and underdeveloped –Typically not codified Asking “who, what, when, where, why, and how” are important in codifying knowledge There is not one method of collecting and organizing organizational memory. The collecting method must be applicable to the situation
