1 Session S5 “The Sun Today” AIA/HMI Science Team Meeting 17 February 2006 Marc DeRosa

2 Some Definitions “The Sun Today” is the name for the web pages at which near real time data products are accessed. Near-real time data products are those that are either readily available, or produced immediately after the data arrives at the JSOC. Examples include a listing of latest events, cutout movies of regions of interest, full-disk summary movies of the last 24-hour period, light curves, magnetic field models, etc. These web pages will be archived, in the sense that users will be able to dynamically regenerate the web page for any date/time throughout the mission.

3 Expected User Types There are four primary user types at whom “The Sun Today” web pages will be aimed (not in any particular order): Casual browsers Mission operations people Space weather forecasters Members of the public / media

4 Goals for This Session In what follows, I will present some demo web pages, and then open the floor for discussion. Your job is to think about the following: Will this setup satisfy the four types of users? How can these web pages be improved? Is there anything that doesn’t belong? Is there anything missing?
