1 PAL week 4 Monday 1st Law: An object at rest remains at rest; an object in motion remains in uniform motion, unless acted on by a net external force. 1.a) A toy car is at rest on the cart. What happens to the car at rest when the cart begins to accelerate? b) The toy car is now in motion, moving along with the cart. What happens to the car in motion when the cart stops?

2 3rd Law: For every force, there is an equal and opposite reaction force. 2. If person A pushes person B, then there is a force on person B and person B accelerates. What happens to person A? a)Is there a force on person A? b)Does person A accelerate? c)Does this match the third law?

3 2nd Law: The acceleration of an object is proportional to the net external force on it, and inversely proportional to its mass. 3. As we saw in the test of the 3rd law, there is an equally-sized force on both person A and person B. a)Do they experience the same acceleration? b)Which has the larger acceleration – the one with larger mass or the one with smaller mass? c)Does this match the 2 nd law?
