14 Graduate Credit Attend ALL class sessions and scheduled evening activities Submit team Final Reflection Activity forms Complete and file an approved team Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan

15 Professional Development Outcomes Two graduate credits awarded by California University of Pennsylvania, applicable to Act 48 No cost to participants Must meet or exceed all established requirements to receive two graduate credits

16 Friday Activities Complete Academy Final Content Assessment Recognition Ceremonies and Awarding of Certificates Concluding Activities

17 Program Improvements Theme of urban academy is “Differentiated Instruction” Smaller, more focused opportunities for participants to network with peers around educational issues Same concurrent sessions available for all participants to attend Opportunities for participants to share highlights of Teaching and Learning Improvement Plans

18 Program Improvements Culminating activity: differentiate a literacy or mathematics lesson; or write a response to an open- ended mathematical problem similar to what students must do on PSSA Team planning & reflection moved to end of the day

19 Team Mentors Assigned to work with each team To assist designated team(s) at ALL planning times and to answer questions about the Academy and its program To provide advice, guidance and direction as team(s) develop Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan(s)

20 Team Mentors To provide team(s) with password for typing plan on-line To approve, sign and receive handwritten Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan before / after it is typed on-line To submit approved plan to the Academy leadership

21 Team Mentors Contact team leader during November 2004, February and May 2005 to collect information about status of and impact of the Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan Refer any questions about the academy to Dave Alisesky
