Description of ‘symbol making’ vs ‘drawing’ - right and left side of the brain ‘modes’ (betty edwards, p.81)
The goal of the exercises in the first module will be to get you to shift your way of seeing so that your capacity to observe and record will be brought to the forefront, and to enable you to recognize and put to use this shift.
The emphasis will be on observation, not accurate reproduction.
Materials:
• drawing paper for exercises ( at least 46 cm x 60 cm ) - newsprint, drawing pad
• pencil (2B)
• thin and thick charcoal
• pen and ink
