New Mexico Hepatitis C Initiative JANUARY 2005: Governor Richardson supported, and the State Legislature allocated 1.2 million to fund Project ECHO, a rural Telehealth network designed by Dr. Sanjeev Arora of the University of New Mexico Health Science Center HEPATITIS C INITIATIVE: “Collaboration across public and private health sector to support a continuum of care from prevention of Hepatitis C through treatment and/or chronic disease management”

New Mexico Hepatitis C Initiative:Pilot Description: Year one 5 Sites Across the State: Las Cruces, Carsbad, Espanola, Las Vegas, and Shiprock/Farmington Access to Hepatitis C Treatment for rural, uninsured persons living with HCV Area Primary Care Centers (Federally Qualified Health Centers) serving as “Medical Home” Corrections collaboration with released HCV + prisoners Public Health Office providing facilitation, education, case coordination, and harm reduction services
