1 Light-Toned Ridge Latitude/longitude: -4.72 North, 137.39 East Rationale: A prominent part of the stratigraphy of the Gale mound, containing phyllosilicates and olivine. Morphology: A fractured, layered light-toned ridge that merges with the basal unit to the northwest and transitions sharply to the nontronite bearing trough to the southeast. CRISM shows evidence of olivine and smectites. What will the rover specifically do here? Determine the nature of the ridge material and infer its alteration history. Search for organics preserved in the phyllosilicates. Add to the stratigraphic column of the Gale mound. Next Slide
