Physical and Chemical Properties
2
Physical Physical PROPERTY: A characteristic of a substance that can be observed without changing the substance into something else. Ex: length, color, shape, density, mass, volume, solubility,
3
Physical Physical CHANGE: A change that affects the form or appearance (i.e. size, shape or color) of a substance but does not affect its composition.
4
Chemical Chemical PROPERTY: A property used to characterize materials in reactions that change their identity.
5
Chemical Chemical CHANGE: A change in the chemical composition of a substance to produce a new material with new properties.
6
Evidence of a Chemical Change Production of Gas Change in Temperature Formation of a Precipitate Change in Color
