6 Software Development Developing software is a complex task. The more complex  the greater the need for organization/coordination of activities Methodologies! A software development methodology lists and defines the (major) activities of software development, and also describes how they interact with each other.

7 Methodologies At a coarse-grained level, just about any development methodology will include the following activities: –Analysis –Design –Implementation –Testing –Maintentance Most methodologies will break these down into more categories; in practice there are many fine- grained activities involved in the development process.
