2 Regarding Conference Logistics/Planning From NSC-2013: Recommendations for NSC-2015 Focus on Users Clearly define “Users” (and Conference Goals) early in planning process Provide travel funding for users from Central/South America & Caribbean Maximize non-DC NOAA attendance Highlight applications/operations in particular More/longer poster sessions Partner with a Non-Profit Organization Share logistics/planning responsibilities Charge nominal Registration Fee: minimize no-shows & provide adequate breaks Hold in MD, but change venue to an adequate (non-federal?) Conference Facility Posters – more room, without security constraints Breaks & Lunches – more room, and better catering options Schedule for April again After winter, before summer; Good hotel rates; Lower risk of CR issues Avoid Easter, and conflict with 31 st Space Symposium 2

15 Notable questions from Session 3.2: Q: Do you know how much or when I can find the information about the cost in order to buy an receiver antenna for GOES-R in Colombia, who will provide the service to? A: We do not provide quotes for equipment. If you go to http://www.noaasis.noaa.gov/NOAASIS/ml/manulst.html you will see a list of GVAR manufacturers. Many of them are also selling GRB receive stations. At least one is selling one that will receive both GVAR and GRB.http://www.noaasis.noaa.gov/NOAASIS/ml/manulst.html Q: When will the South Americans have to buy the new antennas in order to receive GOES-R information? A: GOES-R is scheduled for launch in March 2016. Sometime after that, NOAA will decide whether it will become GOES-East or GOES-West. It is planned to be operational in March 2017 in one of the two positions. GRB imagery is planned to be available sometime after May 2016. Recommendations and ?s...

16 Notable questions from Session 3.2: Q: Will it be available for free the signal of GOES-R in which temporal resolution? A: All NOAA data is free and open. There is no license or other fee to download or use NOAA data after you have purchased your ground station. Q: How much will it cost for the sounder package? A: There are free packages available from http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/csppgeo/includes/documents/ITSC19_Poster _GDM_20140322.pdf Q: Are there courses in Spanish about GOES-R? A: Yes. Please go to http://www.comet.ucar.edu/. You can also contact the Visit or WMO VLab program. There are centers of excellence in Costa Rica, Brazil and Argentina. Point of contact: bernie.connell@colostate.edu Recommendations and ?s...
