Native LIVING GREEN MEANS… Using the Right Plant in the Right Place Right Plant, Right Place = Florida Friendly Landscaping Answers for Florida Friendly – Is turf OK? Absolutely. Are both “Natives” and “Non-Natives” OK? You bet. Is irrigation design really that important? Yes – very very important. There are lots of choices in designing beautiful AND environmentally- friendly greenspaces.

Native WHY FERTILIZE? Feed Your Greenspace Responsibly Fertilize only if needed and only when grass is actively growing. Don’t fertilize before a heavy rain. Lawns only need 1/4 inch of water after each fertilizer application. Use slow-release fertilizers, which provide fertilization for 60 days or longer. Always follow package directions -- MORE IS NOT BETTER. Check out WaterMatters.org/fertilizing for more information.

Native LIVING GREEN Means Making Every Drop Count! Irrigate like a pro: Don’t just set it and forget it. Let your lawn tell you when it’s thirsty. Cut WAY back on irrigation in cool weather. Use a rain gauge or moisture sensor. Mow smart. Your lawn and landscape need a lot less water than you think!
