Echelon was an independent agricultural management consulting firm based out of Weyburn, SK Echelon joined the CPS family on Oct. 10, 2013 Echelon is a new type of agricultural service that believes science and advanced technology has a place in making decisions for today’s growers. Echelon provides leading edge, world-class technologies and services to CPS customers across Western Canada and the Northern US

Precision Agriculture and Technology About 60% of growers in Western Canada use Precision Agriculture Precision Agriculture’s definition ranges from using GPS yield mapping, boom controls, auto steer…to precision application of inputs About 12% use Variable Rate Technology today and it is expected to grow to over 30% in next 5 years. Precision Farming is still in the early adoption phase

Precision Agriculture and Technology Cost of equipment and services is still a barrier Understanding what the equipment can provide in terms of data and how to process it is still a challenge Operation of the monitors and equipment still causes some concern within Western Canada Within 5 years, 75% of farms will be yield mapping and over 50% will be using satellite imagery, GPS soil sampling, variable rate fertilizer application and field scouting
