PROGRAM 2015 – 2016 Theme: Whole Person Education (WPE) Based On Local Knowledge For Sustainable Environment And Community Livelihood

Goals (1) To assess the local knowledge related to sustainable ecosystem and community livelihood fits for developing digital teaching modules. (2) To implement the digital teaching modules into relevant courses in UNDK participating universities in respected WPE.

Whole Person Education: “education based on the premise that each person finds identity, meaning, and purpose in life through connections to the community, to the natural world, and to humanitarian values, such as compassion and peace” (Miller, 1999) UNDK interpretation of WPE: combination of educational needs, personal development and civic responsibility of the students in order to achieve the maturity of the students as global citizens

Small Grant Program (SGP), which is supported by United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia – UBCHEA. Related scheme to UNDK’s concern: “Asian Folklore and Cultural Heritage Studies” Topic of the proposal must be in line with UNDK theme. Provided funding: max. US$ 5,000 It must be submitted through UNDK

Proposed project by UNDK members, which funded by UBCHEA in 2015: “Digital documentation of iconic meanings of traditional herbs in the perspective of envirolinguistics to preserve local values and wisdom.” (Dr. R. Kunjana Rahardi, M.Hum – Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta)
