Morale and Welfare Services Fees 8 Some morale and welfare programs are available on a fee-for-service basis. For these programs, the fees charged to the participant depends on their relationship to the military community, with serving CAF members paying the lowest fees, and members of the broader CAF community paying a bit more, but still at very competitive rates. Examples of these programs include: Recreation programs Messes Specialty interest activities such as golf, curling and sailing

Messes Connect with tradition, esprit de corps, and social opportunities by joining the local mess. Activities organized such as official mess functions and several types of entertainment functions. Facilities include wardroom or dining room, bar or anteroom, lounge, conference room, games room, TV room, internet cafe and other common rooms. Recreation Base/Wing Recreation Programs and Services More than 6,000 recreation activities for the whole family available in military communities nationwide, over 100,000 participants Everything from arts to aquatics, basketball to bocce, dance to decorating, first-aid to fitness, golf to gardening, painting to Pilates, sports camps to school break programs, and tennis to Tai Chi. CAF Photography Contest An annual contest celebrating the best professional and amateur photographers in the Defence community 17

Golf: Programs include Junior Golf, Men’s and Ladies Leagues, Get GolfReady, Tee It Forward, Take a Kid to the Course, Future Links, and First tee. 14 locations across Canada and 7 social clubs using civilian courses: Borden, Cold Lake, Comox, Greenwood, Halifax, Kingston, Oromocto, Ottawa, Petawawa, Edmonton, Shilo, Trenton, Valcartier, Winnipeg – Chilliwack, Esquimalt, Gander, Goose Bay, Moose Jaw, St. Jean, Suffield Marinas and Sailing: Programs include sailing and boating courses as well as events and regattas for all age and skill levels. Horseback Riding: Focus on family participation and programs promoting active living. Cold Lake, Edmonton, Dundurn, Wainwright Curling: Programs available to promote accessibility, learning, and skill development. Soldier On Program Empowers retired and serving members of the CAF with an illness or injury (visible or non-visible) to accept their new normal by adopting an active lifestyle through participation in physical, recreational or sporting activities. Reintroduction to an active lifestyle helps them: Develop new skills; Build confidence in their abilities; Realize their full potential. Total of 756 CAF members supported by Soldier On Activities: Saddle Up Soldier On – RCMP Equestrian Camp in Ottawa, National Golf Camp in Toronto, Big BattleField Bike Ride in Belgium/UK, Canada Army Run in Ottawa, etc. 23
