2. What is a verb? A verb is an ACTION word It is something that you DO Quickly  Brainstorm some verbs in English. Run, walk, speak, clean, teach, show, eat, study, skip, fly, car, sleep, run, drink

3. ANATOMY OF A VERB HABL AR The verb stem is always the same in regular verbs The verb ending tells you what form the verb is in. Sometimes it indicates the subject.

4. The Infinitive When a verb is in the “whole form” it is called the “infinitive” When the verb is in the infinitive, it means “to do something” To walk, to run, to eat When you CONJUGATE a verb, it changes form to indicate WHO is doing the action.

5. Spanish Verbs In Spanish, ALL verbs end in either: AR, IR, or ER Cantar, Vivir, Correr

6. -AR – cantar, trabjar, hablar, ayudar -ER – comer, beber, leer, aprender -IR – vivir, abrir, escribir, asistir

8. AR Verb Conjugation To Conjugate means to “change” form You need to change form to indicate who is doing the action. I run. John runs.

11. Conjugating a verb / Formula: 1) Drop the -ar, -er, -ir ending 2) Add the correct ending for the subject pronoun.

12. Hablar = Habl – Mirar = Mir – Tomar = Tom – Escuchar = Escucha -

13. Step #2: Next, add the correct verb ENDING, depending on WHO is doing the action.
