FORMATION ESTAR + ANDO ORIENDO EX: Pedro está estirándose Pedro is stretching. When the verb is reflexive, the reflexive pronoun goes before the form of estar in the negative, and attatched to the end of the ando or iendo in the positive, with an accent on the third vowel from the right.

Present Participle AR- ANDO ER/IR- IENDO EX: Hablar- Hablando to speak Comer- Comiendo to eat Escribir- Escribiendo to write

BOOT VERBS Er and Ar- Don’t boot Ir- Takes the pancake form EX: Servir- Sirviendo

Verb Root Ending in a Vowel Add a “Y” Ex: Traer- Trayendo Leer-Leyendo

Irregular- Ir Ir is the only irregular verb in the present progressive Ir = Yendo (that guy is irregular)

Difference in use In English, the Present Progressive is used sometimes for the future, while in Spanish it is only used for what is happening right now. English: I am going to Spain this Summer In Spanish people would say: Voy a ir a España este verano. They wouldn’t use present progressive in that situation.
