3.  Take out your “Spanish Survival Sheet” because I’m going to be asking a lot of questions today (Who, Where, etc”.  Maybe the chapter 1 vocab list, just in case  Challenge yourself to focus more on the meaning of the entire conversation, rather than every individual word today  Pay attention to the endings of the verbs

4.  Conjugating is manipulating the ending of the verb to reflect who/what is doing that action.  We are conjugating verbs in the present tense.

5.  Present tense expresses an action happening now, or in the present.  In Spanish, this translates equally, but it can also mean “-ing” Bailar = to dance yo bailo en casa= I dance at home. yo bailo en casa= I am dancing at home

14. 1. Count off by 6. Get into 6 groups of 4. 2. One person draws a card. Don’t show anybody else your card! 3. You will act out the verb on the card without words, noises, sounds, etc. 4. Once the word has been guessed, pass the deck of cards to someone that hasn’t been “it” yet. 5. When guessing, make sure to conjugate the verb! 1. For example, if the person is dancing, you would guess “¿Bailas?” (Are you dancing?)

15.  llegar = to arrive  participar = to participate  deber + (infinitive) = to should (do something)  The first two are conjugated like regular –AR verbs  The last verb phrase is conjugated like a regular –ER verb

16.  Use “deber” + the infinitive of another verb to express what someone should or ought to do › Debo hacer la tarea = I should do the homework › Debes trabajar = You should work › Ella debe leer = She should read › Debemos bailar = We should dance › Ustedes deben participar = Y’all should participate  deber conjugates like a regular –ER verb

17.  Hacer  Saber  Ver  Everything else is normal (as in, conjugated like regular –ER verbs)  Only the first person singular (yo form) is weird!  These are SUPER COMMON verbs that you will use a lot
