Artículo (article) Identifies or specifies a noun Definite articles (the): El, la, los, las Indefinite articles (a, an): Un, una, unos, unas

Sustantivo (noun) Person, place or thing In Spanish, can be masculine (m), feminine (f) and plural (pl) El baño (m) La manzana (f) Los pantalones (m.pl) Las tijeras (f.pl)

Pronombre (pronoun) REPLACES a noun (pronouns are a type of nouns). You have learned four types of pronouns: subject, direct object, indirect object and reflexive: Yo, tú, él, nosotros, etc. Me, te, lo/la, nos, os, los/las Me, te, le, nos, os, les Me, te, se, nos, os, se

Verbo (verb) Indicates action or state of being. ALWAYS ends in -ar, -er or -ir Jugar, estar Correr, ser Escribir, existir HOWEVER, words ending in -ar/-er/-ir may not always be verbs: El pulgar, el azúcar, el carácter Verbs are used in many tenses (past, present, future, etc.) and are conjugated to six forms in each of the different tenses.

Adjetivo (adjective) Modifies or describes a noun or pronoun. In Spanish, it ALWAYS agrees with the noun or pronoun it modifies. Los jugadores son talentosos. La chica alta y morena es mi mejor amiga. In a mixed group, the adjective defaults to masculine plural. Julio, Lorenzo, Guillermo y Laura son argentinos.

Adverbio (adverb) Modifies or describes a verb, adjective or another adverb. Commonly ends in -ly in English. The equivalent of this is -mente in Spanish. Andrés juega bien el fútbol. Rosa está completamente lista. Yo corro muy rápidamente.

Práctica: Identifica la parte de la oración, usando el término en español. Laura quiere cantar en la clase. Yo vivo en los Estados Unidos, pero soy mexicano. Tú te despiertas temprano para ir a la escuela.
