3.  Direct object pronouns take the place of the direct object in a sentence. For example:

4. Direct Object Pronouns  Instead of saying, “I want that skirt,” you can say, “I want it.”  The word “it” takes the place of the word “skirt.”

5. Direct Object Pronouns (Spanish) me (me) te (you) lo (him or it) la (her or it) nos (us) los (them, you all) las (them, you all)

6. Placement of Direct Object Pronouns  Direct Object Pronouns, me, te, lo, la, nos, los and las are placed either before a conjugated verb or attached to the end of an infinitive or a participle.

7. Before the Conjugated Verb:  ¿Probaste el pescado?  Sí, lo probé.

8. Before the Conjugated Verb  If there is a no before the verb, the pronoun goes between no and the verb. Antonio comió las uvas. Las comió en el desayuno. Yo no las comí.

9. Before the verb or attached to a participle: Before the verb:  ¿Vas a comer el helado ?  Lo estoy comiendo ahora. Attached to a participle:  ¿Vas a comer el helado ?  Estoy comiéndo lo ahora.

10. Before the verb or attached to an infinitive: Before the verb:  ¿Vas a comer el helado ?  No, no lo quiero comer. Attached to an infinitive:  ¿Vas a comer el helado ?  No, no quiero comer lo.

11. Direct Object Pronouns & Affirmative Tú Commands  With affirmative commands the reflexive or direct object pronouns will be attached to commands.

12. Affirmative Tú Commands  Josefina, ¡hazlo ahora mismo!  Dime la verdad siempre

13. Affirmative Tú Commands  When you attach a pronoun to the end of an affirmative command, you must add an accent mark to the command form in order to maintain the correct stress. The written accent mark is placed on what was the next-to-the-last syllable before you attached any pronoun.
