2 *Explanation* Demonstrative Adjectives appear before the noun. Agree in gender -&- number with the noun.

3 Demonstrative Adjectives Close This / These Not Close That/Those Far Away That/Those over there Singular Este (Masc.) Esta (fem.) Ese (masc.) Esa (fem.) Aquel (masc.) Aquella (fem.) Plural Estos (Masc., pl.) Estas (fem.,pl.) Esos (masc.,pl.) Esas (fem., pl.) Aquellos (masc.,pl.) Aquellas (fem.,pl.)

4 *Examples*: ¿Cuánto cuesta este anillo? (How much does this ring cost?) Esos anillos cuesta diez dólares. (That ring costs ten dollars) Aquellas joyas en Egypt son muy caras. (Those[far away] jewels in Egypt are very expensive.

5 *More Examples!: A mí me gustan estos zapatos. ( I like those shoes.) Esta presentación es buena. (This presentation is good.) Esa chica es bonita. (That girl is pretty.)

15 *Examples*: ¿Cuánto cuesta éste?(replaces anillo) (How much does this one cost?) Ése cuesta diez dólares.(replaces anillo) (That one costs 10 dollars. Aquéllas en Egypt son muy caras.(replaces joyas) (Those ones in Egypt are very expensive)

16 *More Examples!: Éste es la mejor ciudad.(replaces Boston) (This one is the best city.) Ése es el estado más grande.(replaces Texas) (That one is the largest state) Aquél es el más pequeño país. (replaces Andorra) (That one [far away] is the smallest country.

20 *Answer: Ésos son muy baratos.

23 *Cool Hints*: This & These both have T’s, that & those don’t. (EsTo(a)/ EsTos(as) Pronouns think they are pro’s, so they have accent marks. (.i.e. ésos) Sneaky…huh?
