El Subjuntivo We use it to say what one person does or doesn’t want, tell, suggest, or recommend someone else to do.

El Subjuntivo Certain verbs are used with the subjunctive to make recommendations, give advice, or influence the action/s of another person or people.

El Subjuntivo When these verbs are used in the present indicative in the first clause, they trigger the present subjunctive in the second clause.

Mis padres me aconsejan que yo S1 V1S2 complete mis quehaceres antes de salir. V2 My parents advise me to complete my chores before going out.

Yo le recomiendo a mi hermano que S1 V1S2 alquile un apartamento en un barrio V2 seguro. I recommend to my brother that he rent an apartment in a safe neighborhood.

Nosotros te sugerimos que tú te mudes a S1 V1 S2V2 las afueras si no quieres pagar tanto por la vivienda. We suggest that you move to the suburbs if you don’t want to pay so much for housing.

María insiste en que haya un balcón en S1 V1 S2/V2 su nueva casa. María insists that there is a balcony in her new home.
