Spanish I- Unit 1
2
Identifying parts of a sentence
3
All sentences have a subject and a verb. The subject is the person, place, or thing being described or doing the action. The verb is the action. Examples: Mrs. García is my teacher. She is from Spain. She runs.
4
Spanish sentences also have a subject and a verb. The subject is still the person, place, or thing being described or doing the action. The verb is still the action. Ejemplos: Señora García es mi profesora. Ella es de España. Ella corre.
5
English and Spanish sentences use nouns as subjects. However, subject pronouns can replace the noun as the subject. Juan can be replaced by He in English or Él in Spanish. Julia can be replaced by She in English or Ella in Spanish.
6
English sentences will ALWAYS have a subject or a subject pronoun. However, in Spanish the subject or subject pronoun can be omitted if everyone knows who you are talking about. Examples: María is my friend. She is from Spain. Ejemplos. María es mi amiga. Es de España.
7
The following slide will have 5 sets of sentences. First, copy the sentences on your paper. Then, Circle the subject in each sentence. Finally, Underline the verb.
